Who are we and where have we come from?

My timber journey began at a young age, building go-karts in the weekends and watching dad reno the various houses we lived in. After leaving school, I completed my apprenticeship as a Marine Cabinet Maker fitting out the timber interiors and teak decking of new-build superyachts at iconic West-Auckland Superyacht builders, 'Alloy Yachts International'.

After 'Alloy', I left Auckland and spent nearly 10 years in the New Zealand Army before relocating to Taupo in 2014 with my young family.

In the 20-years since leaving Alloy, I have worked various jobs and continued to work with timber as a passion, completing multiple house renovations and one-off furniture items during weekend projects.

In 2023, I identified a gap in the market and started creating outdoor BBQ tables as a 'side gig' in the shed at home. That side gig quickly picked up momentum and in 2024, Timberthings was born. Now, as well as high quality BBQ tables, we create Cape Cod chairs, planters, trellis panelling, and other outdoor garden items made from Pine timber.
